“The Brooks” At Historic Walter REED Redevelopment Honored As Best Washington/Baltimore Mid-Rise Condominium Community

Developed by a joint venture of Urban Atlantic, Hines and Triden Development Group, residential anchor for a new DC submarket is recognized by Delta Associates as an outstanding accomplishment in the multi-family industry

(WASHINGTON, DC) — “The Brooks” at The Parks at Walter Reed has been selected by Delta Associates as the winning property for the 25th Annual Apartment and Condominium Industry Awards for Excellence in the category of Best Washington/Baltimore Mid-Rise Condominium Community. Located on the 66-acre site of the former and historically significant Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the mixed-income community is a residential anchor for a new D.C. submarket master developed by Urban Atlantic, Hines, and Triden Development Group.

Honors were presented in a virtual ceremony on Thursday, October 14, 2021.

Surrounding the 89-unit “The Brooks,” The Parks at Walter Reed redefines city living. At full build-out, this new “district within the District” will include 3.1 million square feet of mixed-use development, featuring adaptive reuse of existing historic buildings, new construction and more than 20 acres of open space.

At the heart of The Parks, “The Brooks” joins The Vale, the adjacent 301-unit multifamily building, as the first two new construction market rate buildings to deliver within the new community.  Other significant projects at The Parks include the completed Abrams Hall, providing affordable rental homes for veterans and seniors;  the  DC International School, as well as nearly 500 residential units and 100,000 square feet of retail under construction in the project’s Whole Foods Market-anchored marketplace and another nearly 100 affordable seniors units under construction near The Great Lawn. This ambitious master planned community encompasses market-rate homes and affordable homes for veterans, seniors, and low- and middle-income workers. In keeping with its 24/7 vision, it also includes retail, recreation and commercial office.

The project team  for The Brooks includes Torti Gallas Urban and Streetsense, for architecture and interior design, Urban Pace for marketing and sale; and Grosvenor and Eagle Bank which provided financing.
